On January 9, the girls gathered at the Clearfield YMCA to pose for this year's poster. It seemed like everyone was there but it's a little tough to get a head count when the heads keep moving all over the room. Alas, there were only nineteen of the twenty in attendance so I tried to recruit Brooke Jordan, CHS and Lady Bison Basketball '07, who was working a treadmill in the adjoining room. She politely declined, and by that time the one tardy player - you know who you are, Jayme - had arrived. We trooped downstairs to the weight room, ousting a somewhat surprised Buck Danver, and got to work.
While the girls were milling around and trying to decide on their pose, I took a few shots to try and figure out the exposure and such -
This is the poster that served as the inspiration for our girls' pose,
found on the Internet and which features the Verona, Wisconsin, Wildcats Girls Basketball Team as captured by
Paul Toepfer Photography , also of Wisconsin.
After nearly forty shots, we'd all had about enough so we said our goodbyes and I went home to start sorting through them all.
This one seemed to have everyone smiling and all the eyes were open, so I lightened it up a bit . . .
. . . cropped it to better fit the shape of the poster . . .
. . . changed it from "color" to "Sepia" . . .
. . . and after adding our sponsors and some other fiddling around, it became the finished product . . .
Before we could escape the YMCA that day,
the Senior Girls decided we also needed a shot of just the seven of them . . . .
. . . and while we were doing that, Rachel
managed to get into a few of them too :
