6-3 Home Win vs. Mifflin County , 9-29-11 ~
Girls Soccer -

Clearfield 6, Mifflin County 3

CLEARFIELD - Nicole Powers and Shannon Reinke each had a hat trick in Clearfield's 6-3 win over the Mifflin County Huskies in girls soccer Thursday.

The Bisons jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead when Powers scored two of first three goals and Reinke had her first goal. The combo carried the Bisons' offense to four first-half goals. The Huskies tried to fight back when Madi Walters scored on a penalty kick just before the break. Walters scored again right out of the gate in the second half, but Powers answered that to help Clearfield blow the game open.

Huskies coach Anita Valerio thought her team wasn't prepared at the start of the game.

"I think we showed some inconsistency from what we've been playing," Valerio said. "In the first half we struggled, we played a little lazy when it came to getting and keeping possession. In the second half we were able to put some things together and score twice."

Blake Yoder got the final goal for the Huskies - her first varsity goal.

With the loss the Huskies drop to 3-7 on the season. They host Bellefonte Tuesday. Valerio knows her team can't have the effort that it showed against Clearfield.

"I think if we can concentrate on attacking well and keeping the ball on the ground we'll be OK," Valerio said. "I think we'll have to bring our A-game, however, so we're going to work hard the next couple days."
