CLEARFIELD — Having been rained out last week, and despite the fact that the playoffs are now underway in District 9, with some idle time on their calendars, the softball teams from Clearfield
and DuBois played on Monday.

Each team recorded 16 hits, and between them they committed 12 errors — nine by DuBois and
three by the Lady Bison — in a high-scoring affair. In the end, though, Clearfield scored one more run in a 14-13 win.

In doing so, Clearfield didn’t just score in each of its at-bats, the Lady Bison put up a crooked
number in all six turns at the plate — three in the first and sixth innings and two in each of the
ones between them.

Abby Kalgren, who was the pitcher, also had a big day at the dish, going 4-for-4, doubling once and driving in three runs for the Lady Beavers. Calli Bash also singled and doubled while driving in two runs, and Elliette Brewer belted three hits.

Brielle Gray and Theresa McBride added two hits each, with Gray and Presleigh Evock each driving in two runs, and Addison Lilja, Hailey Straub and Evock all singled once.

DuBois (11-8) is still awaiting its opponent for its postseason play, as the Lady Beavers will take on the District 6 champion in a subregional game a week from today, May 26. The winner of that game will advance to States
