SPRING MILLS — The Clearfield softball team broke out the bats Monday at Penns Valley to end a two-game losing streak with a 17-5, 5-inning mercy rule victory against the host Lady Rams to get back to the .500 mark on the season.
The Lady Bison churned out 15 hits, five for extra bases, in the lopsided victory. Clearfield broke open the game with a huge nine-run top of the second, then scored a single run in the third before scoring seven more times in the fourth to
put the 10-run mercy rule into play.
Lily McBride and Haley Billotte each had three hits, including a triple, to lead the Clearfield attack. McBride also had three RBIs and three runs scored, while Billotte knocked in a pair and scored twice.
Teammate Joell Henry also enjoyed a big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Ellie McBride
and Lila Roberts each added a double and RBI.
Megan Wisor got the win the circle, allowing five runs, two earned, on six hits in the three innings of work. She struck
out three and walked none.
Henry tossed two scoreless, no-hit innings to finish off the win. She also struck out three and walked none.
Clearfield (3-3) plays at Hollidaysburg today.
